Annual Production: 3,000 bottles

Terrain: Vineyards on valley plains in northern part of Pojezerje on calcocambisol and fluvisol soil.

Farming: Practicing organic. The vineyards have no irrigation, and spraying is done only with sulfites and copper, if needed.

Vinification: All grapes are hand-picked and crushed and sees 10 days of skin maceration in open vats while undergoing spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then aged for 6-8 months in stainless steel and then transferred to used 225L Slavonian oak barrels for 3 months.

Tasting Notes: Zlato, directly translated to "gold", is old school Zlatarica, with a modern twist. In the old days before modern technology, it was typical for these wines to be produced with some skin contact. With tradition in mind but with a fresher style, we make this now with a much shorter maceration and short-term aging, along with a delicate harvest of grapes, allowing for a beautiful light and fresh Dalmatian orange. Our elders approve!

Made to honor our late "dida" (grandfather/father) Mate, who adored big, bold Zlatarica oranges combined with a tiny bit of sparkling water. As ac child, this was one of the first contacts with wine, for me - macerated Zlatarica.
